- "Healthy Nations is an initiative
funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to help Native Americans reduce the
harm caused by substance abuse in their communities. The National Program Office
of the Healthy Nations Initiative, which provides day-to-day administration, is
located in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Colorado Health Science
Center . The goal of the initiative is to demonstrate that tribes and
communities can, over time, achieve substantial reductions in the demand for --
and consequently the use of -- alcohol and other harmful substances, including

American Diabetes Project's goal is to help people eat healthy foods and
increase exercise. This is done by working together with
Native American communities. Ideas from the communities are used to make a
program that is specifically designed for Rio Grande Pueblo people. |

Elder Health Care Resource Center |
- "The
Native Elder Health Care Resource Center (NEHCRC), initially funded by the
Administration on Aging for a four-year period beginning February 1, 1994, is a
national resource center for older American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native
Hawaiians, with special emphasis on culturally competent health care. The NEHCRC
is located in the Department of Psychiatry. There are four cross-cutting themes
to the Center's efforts: ascertaining health status and conditions, improving
practice standards, increasing access to care, and mobilizing community
